This class focuses on preparing and equipping individuals with how to obtain and maintain employment. We will be discussing your future and what you would like out of your life. You will learn how to complete an application, create and update a resume, how to dress for success and how to interview to get the job. In addition you will learn about work place etiquette and communication in the work place.
Instructor: Loretta Finnegan-Nelson Course Objective Participants will be able to:
Create a life plan including vocational goals
Explain positive communication strategies
Demonstrate how to interact in a positive manner with others in a variety of settings and situations at work
Communicate clearly their needs and wants in a respectful manner
Create a resume and complete a job application
Explain vocabulary related to applications, resumes and the workplace
Present themselves in a positive manner during an interview
Required Materials Laptop or tablet, writing materials (pen/pencil/paper), journal, motivation to learn and a willingness to participate in class discussions. Laptops can be provided for students who don't have one.
